If you have been thinking of starting a business for some time, then what is stopping you?

I have been involved in starting 10 businesses since 1990. Learn from my experiences and mistakes. Too many times I have had great ideas only to procrastinate and want to be absolutely certain, while in the meantime someone else has had the same idea and got on with it and become successful.

The hardest step to becoming successful and running a profitable business is the first step. Once you take that first step you will find the following steps become easier and easier as you build momentum.

Take action today and get started now. Too many times people give you bad advice. When you are starting people tell you to get an office, design a logo and get your paperwork in order. None of this is strictly bad advice but it stops you getting your business started.

I believe issues such as looking into legal issues, tax issues etc are all valid but what if your product or idea is no good. Having spent thousands you will have wasted all that money.

My advice is just to get your business going in a small way so you can test the market. For example you could try selling on a market stall or at a flea market. Try selling to friends and family and get feedback.

These days there are so many Internet channels to use and test ideas. You could sell items and products on eBay or you could set up a website and make money that way.

Once you have proof your idea has merit and possibilities, then that is the time to think about staff and to roll out your idea in a professional manner.

My favorite suggestion to people wanting to start their own business is to set up an Internet business. It is very low-cost and you can work from home keeping your day job to start with. Join a training course for beginners such as Niche Profit Classroom 3 which teaches you the basics and gives you a blueprint to follow. Just stick with it and do not deviate with your ideas as that is usually where you will fall down.
