Do you know what a black hat SEO technique is? It is just the opposite of white hat SEO. It uses any available methods, hook or crook and takes a shorter route to get optimized in search engines with a good ranking. But if the search engines smell its proceedings, they are completely banned from search engines.

White hat SEO, or organic SEO, follows the straight forward route though it takes a long time for the fruits to ripen, they taste very sweet. Stuffing and Spamming key words Some sites used the method of getting a rank in the key word targeted search by stuffing the keywords a number of times in the website’s mega tags and image tags. But now search engines have improved their performance and easily identify such crooked methods.

Copy Cats

Many sites simply copy the entire content of a web page, without permission, violating copyright laws and post them in their sites. This technique is known as website scraping. If the content is not unique, some people think that they should not be given rankings in the search engines.

Link Farming

If you build a farm of numerous links, that it will devaluate a site and lowers it’s ranking. So people use this technique to bring down their competitor’s rank. This is called Google Bowling. If you follow this method, then you will be banned by Google.

Spam Comments for Blogs

Sending spam comments for thousands of blogs and websites using software, with a link back to their sites is another black hat method. This affects authentic websites that enjoy a good reputation. To overcome this problem, some people use comment moderation facility and others use wordpress plugin called Akismet. It works like a spam filter and keeps the spam comments in a separate database for the owner’s manual reviewing.

Bridging Pages

You open a site, expecting something in it, but you will be redirected to another webpage that has an entirely different content that is not relevant to the key word you used to search. Now, this trick is also deducted by search engines easily and they penalize or ban those sites.

Cloaking

Cloaking is a process of cheating the search engine spiders. It makes the spiders think differently of the content of the site instead of the actual thing.

If someone used these black hat SEO techniques to get a ranking in the site, it may end up in banning the site altogether. The results will not last longer and if you insisted on following them, then you will have to cry in the end over these SEO mistakes.
